The creator behind ROOTz

Intro

Hey there, I’m Sophie.

Endurance athlete, mental performance coach, and founder of ROOTz.

After thirteen years working as an engineer, team leader and project manager notably at Strava, I chose to train in mental performance coaching and sophrology to dedicate myself to understanding how humans function under effort—how the mind, emotions, and body interact to support performance.

I created ROOTz with the goal of placing the human at the center of performance, giving critical importance to internal sensations and self-awareness.

The passion for endurance

I've been passionate about endurance and mountain sports for many years. I love long hours outside: trail running and long-distance cycling, ski touring, climbing, backpacking... Ultras have become my exploration ground.

These experiences teach me that sustainable performance doesn't come only from physical training: it requires kindness and regulation on a daily basis.

The race that fascinates me most to this day remains the TOR des Géants. A 350km race with 24,000m of elevation gain, circling the Aosta Valley in Italy.

My methodology

My approach combines mental performance coaching, sophrology, and endurance athlete experience—a triple competency that allows me to offer an integrative method helping athletes better understand their internal functioning and perform sustainably.

This quest for sustainable performance is built around four areas of focus:

1. Strategic planning

Goal definition, sports project structuring, alignment between training load, recovery, and the athlete's real needs.

2. Mental regulation

Managing performance anxiety, internal dialogue, confidence, concentration, and tolerance to discomfort.

3. Emotions & motivation

Emotional management, search for meaning, maintaining engagement and deep motivation, balance between personal life, mental load, and training.

4. Fatigue & recovery

Energy management, sleep optimization, nutrition, understanding internal variations, and overtraining prevention.

The central objective: to enable each athlete to feel fully aligned with their project, while developing a fine awareness of their physiological and mental signals. This understanding, combined with mental and emotional regulation, allows for intelligent training adjustments, overload prevention, and sustainable preservation of athletic longevity.

And it's this approach that fuels the development of ROOTz!
